Thoughts on “Success”

I stumbled across a column by Harvey MacKay that I cut out of the Star Tribune several years ago titled “Learn from Buffett’s 4 Rules for Success”. I am sharing the summary below, including a few of my favorite additional points.

Number One – Choose your friends wisely.

Number Two – Continuous learning.

Number Three – Improve your communication skills.

Number Four – The ability to say no.

In the continuous learning section, he makes two great points.

  • “Education is an investment and never an expense. Consider education a capital improvement.”
  • “In fact, self-improvement is the one area in which you should really increase your spending, not decrease it.”
